These destinations offer rollercoaster rides, opera, football, museums, fishing, fine dining, music and more.
Manchester is Britain’s second city and has grown into this role with a fervent desire to embrace the new whilst flashing pride in the old. From cosmopolitan sidewalk cafes, music venues and trendy bars to stunning new attractions like The Lowry or the Imperial War Museum of the North. Culture is everywhere,
with more than 50 free museums and galleries including the kid-friendly Museum of Science and Industry. Sports fans will be in heaven, Manchester is home to world-class cricket, the velodrome National Cycling Centre and even a couple of football teams you may have heard of!
Blackpool too has retained the image of a ‘typical’ seaside resort and yet now strives to become the gambling capital of Europe; with Las Vegas style casinos due soon, top acts and all the glitz and glamour of a showgirl in full make-up. Turn your stomach upside down at the Pleasure Beach, take a peek at Ireland from the top of the Tower, stroll miles of sandy beaches, get entertained at the Winter Gardens and Funny Girls or simply ride a tram to go back or forth in time at your leisure.
The North West will keep you busy throughout your stay with so much on offer. Try Lancaster, built on a site first fortified in Roman times with a superbly preserved medieval castle that is part of the array of fascinating historic buildings; or Liverpool to immerse yourself in the Docklands area, the heart and soul of the city that gave us The Beatles; or travel the canals and waterways that knit this whole region together and led to the advancement of so many industries, back in the days when the industrial revolution was fresh and new.
