Golf Courses

Picture of Golf Courses
Golfing holidays, tournaments, events or simply holidays incorporating golf are easy to arrange here in the U.K. with many tour operators and hotels specialising. There are courses all over, we list here some of the more famous and the reasons why. Here are just a few from the top 40:

*St Andrews Old Course and Links is the largest golfing complex in Europe, with 6 Public Courses and the famous Old Course.
*Muirfield is the course of “The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers”, the world’s oldest golf club, formed in 1744.
*The Ailsa course at Turnberry is a very scenic Open Championship course, "Scotland’s Pebble Beach".
*Wentworth's West course is the most televised course in Britain, hosting three professional tournaments every year .
*The Royal Liverpool is a tough links. Only a couple of holes in the dunes; otherwise there is little protection from the ever-changing wind.
*Little Aston is set in 176 acres of mature parkland. The club is hidden away just 8 miles north of Birmingham city centre.
*Nefyn and District Golf Club was founded in 1907 and in terms of sheer exhilaration, Nefyn is Wales’ equivalent of Ireland’s Old Head of Kinsale. This is literally golf on the edge of the world. The course is dramatically located on the cliff tops at the foot of the Porthdinllaen headland, a tiny promontory that juts out into the Irish Sea.
